How can I make my name unsearchable in Facebook? I don’t want people to find me through the Facebook search field how do I block that?
There is a way to block users from finding you on Facebook search. Try this:
- Look up in the corner on the right side and click on “Privacy”
- Select “Search”
- From the first drop down menu select “Only Friends” (Search Visibility)
- Now just click the “Save” button on the bottom of the page and you’re finished
You name is now unsearchable through Facebook. Just remember that no one will be able to add you as a friend, only you have that power. Another thing to keep in mind is when you post on someones “Wall” your profile picture will have a question mark and other Facebook users will not be able to click your name.

Doesn’t work. I did this and then signed off and searched for myself. Doesn’t hide you at all.

If you choose the most closed privacy setting — only friends — it is clearly not true that you are unsearchable — friends can search you.
