Best voice recognition software

March 2, 2010

“My mom has a hard time typing with a physical keyboard so I want to get her some kind of voice recognition software, any recommendations?”

Dragon’s Naturally Speaking 10 is probably the best one out there right now, the standard version costs about $99. But don’t expect the program to pick up every word you speak right away. There is a bit of training involved to get the best results and less errors. It claims to have about 99% accuracy so that means one word for every few paragraphs the program will get wrong. That’s pretty good but I wouldn’t expect that kind of accuracy right off the bat. Take some time and do all the tutorials that comes with the program.

Features:

  • On-screen help
  • Tutorials
  • Comes with a word processor (DragonPad)
  • Works with WordPerfect and Microsoft Word
  • Works with Internet Explorer and Firefox
