Best viewing distance for tv

January 14, 2008

Selecting a proper screen size is an important step when buying your new lcd or plasma tv. It really depends on where you plan on sitting, how far away is the couch gonna be from the tv?

A good general easy and simple rule for measuring tv screen viewing distance is taking the tv screen size and doubling it. For example for 50 inch plasma or lcd tv you would want a viewing distance of 100 inches (50 inches X2) which equals to about 8.4 feet.

Hope this gives you a good idea of what size tv you should buy, happy shopping.
